How to delete VPN from iPhone or iPad

👨‍💻

If you use a VPN with your iPhone or iPad, you may want to delete that VPN from your device, perhaps because you are no longer using the VPN service, or if the VPN is no longer needed. For example, you may have used a VPN while traveling and came home and no longer found it necessary, or perhaps you changed jobs and no longer needed a work VPN.

This article will show you how to delete VPN from iPad or iPhone.

How to remove VPN from iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Toggle the “VPN” switch to “Off” if the VPN you want to delete is not already disabled
  3. Go to “General” and then click on “VPN”
  4. Locate the VPN profile you want to remove and click the (i) button
  5. Click on “Delete VPN”
  6. Confirm that you want to delete the VPN to remove it from your iPhone or iPad

With the VPN deleted, it will no longer be available for use on the iPad or iPhone. If you want to use the VPN again, you will need to either re-add the VPN profile or manually reconfigure the VPN.

Many VPN services install a VPN profile which makes setting up their service particularly easy, and by deleting the VPN in this way you are effectively removing that profile. This also works the same way to delete and remove a manually configured VPN on iPhone or iPad as well.

Almost every third-party VPN service (which you’ll actually want to use anyway, although the Opera web browser has a free VPN as with some others) is a paid service, and can be very useful for travelers Internationals and for privacy or security conscious since a VPN will route all internet traffic on the device through the VPN as long as it is active. Additionally, many businesses and organizations have a Virtual Private Network (VPN) that is required to access other organization’s internal networks and data. Whatever the case, once you no longer need a VPN or no longer pay for the service, you will probably want to remove the VPN profile from your iPhone or iPad.

The screenshots here show removing the VPN from the iPad but deleting the VPN from the iPhone is exactly the same as with the iPod touch.
