How to Fix a VPN Blocking Internet Connection in Windows 10

👨‍💻

Do you seem to be having internet problems on your Windows PC? Is your VPN working? There is a possibility that your VPN is blocking your internet connection. A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that extends a private network over a public network. Therefore, users can send and receive information as if their systems were directly connected to the private network. Devices such as laptop, smartphones, desktop, and tablets, connected to a VPN can enjoy its benefits. A VPN offers many benefits; They include:

  • Security – A VPN prevents your devices from hackers and intruders from viewing your data.
  • Management
  • Careers

However, Windows 10 users have reported losing their internet connection after connecting to the VPN.

Causes of internet disconnection when VPN is connected.

There are several reasons for blocking the Internet, which can be:

  • Network related issues
  • DNS cache
  • Incorrect VPN software settings
  • Wrong DNS configuration
  • Wrong proxy settings
  • Wrong DHCP Configuration

How does a VPN work

The data is transmitted from the client to a point in your VPN network. A VPN hotspot encrypts your information and sends it over the Internet. In addition, another point in your VPN decrypts the information and sends it to the correct Internet resource. Further, an Internet resource, such as an email server, or web server sends the data to a point in your VPN. The data is encrypted and transmitted over the Internet to another point in your VPN where it is decrypted. Therefore, your data is safe.

VPN uses some technologies:

  • Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP): Tunnels packets of data. It is not safe.
  • IPSec: It is a better choice than PPTP. Can be used for encryption.
  • Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP): It is used for tunneling for added security.
  • Secure Shell (SSH): It can be used for tunneling and encryption in a VPN.

In this post, we have discussed the best solutions to this problem.

Method 1: Use advanced system repair

We highly recommend a free scan with Advanced System Repair Tool – an application that provides you with all the tools you need to clean, repair, optimize, protect and boost your PC’s performance.
