How to Install a VPN Extension on Chrome (Easy Setup)
-🖥️-
WebRTC is a browser technology that allows audio and video communications to operate within web pages.
However, this technique can result in your IP address being exposed, even when using a VPN – although the best VPNs will ensure that this does not happen.
When your IP address is exposed, it is called a WebRTC leak. You can read all about WebRTC leaks in our leak testing guide.
You can run a leak test to see if your IP address has been exposed by visiting this page. If you can see your real IP address in the test results, you are experiencing a WebRTC leak.
Some VPN browser extensions come with WebRTC leak prevention, so be sure to enable it before you start browsing.
If you are still experiencing WebRTC leaks after this, it is best to disable WebRTC completely.
However, disabling WebRTC is a bit tricky if you are using Google Chrome.
Unlike other web browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, that allow you to disable WebRTC through your browser settings, you will have to use a third-party add-on or extension to disable it on Chrome.
Even so, these add-ons are not always 100% effective.
It’s best to use a quality VPN service like ExpressVPN to block WebRTC requests, or even start using a privacy-friendly alternative to Google Chrome.
If this sounds like something that interests you, read on for some suggestions.
