Setting up a pptp VPN server in Windows Server 2008 is a relatively simple and trivial task. Pptp VPNs are definitely very useful when you need to quickly allow users into your network, and despite being less secure, pptp vpn servers are easy to install and configure compared to ipsec vpn servers. The setting has been slightly changed from 2003 to 2008. Now RRAS must be added using Server Manager as a “role” using Server Manager. In this tutorial, I will walk you through the installation. Before we start our project, I advise that if you want to setup a fast pptp vpn server at home, the best way to do it, in my work, is to use a home router instead of having a computer that is always power consuming. If you want to know how to do that, read my article: Setting up a VPN with DD-WRT.
