How to set up your own PPTP VPN connection in Windows 10

– 👌

Midsummer brought us to the masses the release of Windows 10, the newest version of Microsoft’s operating system. While it’s not a huge leap for many from the previous version, in our opinion it’s still better than Windows 8.1 (and miles away from Windows 8)

At the moment, the option to upgrade to this new version has probably been presented to many of you. If you are considering upgrading and wondering if your private proxies or VPN will still work in the new version, rest assured that nothing has changed on our part and that our proxies are 100% compatible with the new Windows 10.

Also there aren’t many changes within the operating system regarding setting up proxy/VPN connections. If you have already upgraded, you should now be accustomed to the settings. If you are still in the process of making a decision, here is a quick guide on how to set up your agent in Windows 10. Keep in mind that we recommend that you perform a fresh installation of the operating system, after backing up your personal data. This is our opinion. Also know that Windows 10 includes a set of “features” that many consider to be privacy breaches. But this is another story.

So here is the quick guide:

Step 1: Open the Settings app from the Start menu or from the Action Center in the taskbar. Open the Settings app Step 2: Choose Network & Internet from the middle of the screen. Open Network and Internet Settings Step 3: Select VPN from the right side of the window and click on the Add VPN Connection button. Open VPN Settings Step 4: Select a name for this connection, enter the server name or IP address, leave the VPN type option to Automatic or Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), then enter your username and password. Click the Save button and you are good to go. Configure your VPN connections using your credentials

After completing the steps, verify that the setup is ok by checking your IP address on www.whatismyip.com The IP address given to you should match your current proxy/vpn subscription.
