My real location detected when connected to VPN. How to disable geolocation?

-🖥️-

Most modern browsers implement a geolocation API as defined by the W3C which enables browsers to detect a device’s geolocation. This enables web services that depend on location information to function properly. The specification does not identify the site’s sources but the following are in common use:

  1. GPS
  2. Available Wi-Fi networks and signal strengths
  3. GSM/CDMA Cell Identifiers
  4. IP

If you are connected to an IVPN, the IP address lookup should return the location of the VPN server. However, if your browser is configured to use any of the alternate website sources, your actual location may be revealed to the web services. Wi-Fi network information will be most commonly used because there are large databases that map Wi-Fi networks to a geographic location (usually generated by GPS and Wi-Fi-equipped vehicles such as Google Street View vehicles).

How to disable geolocation in browsers?

  1. Click the Chrome menu button in the browser toolbar (with the three dots).

  5. Click on the site and toggle “Ask before accessing” to “Blocked”.
