Networking – Cisco AnyConnect Split Tunneling on Windows 10
-🖥️-
The Cisco AnyConnect client must be blocking the local network of the computer. This was dictated by the VPN server, but it seems that Shimo’s client can ignore it.
An alternative VPN client is OpenConnect, which is described as an “SSL VPN client initially built to support Cisco’s AnyConnect SSL VPN” since the “Cisco client… was found to have several flaws”.
To extract the Cisco AnyConnect login details, it can be found in the file %ProgramData%CiscoCisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility ClientProfile, which is (or contains) an XML file.
This XML file may contain the HostAddress tag, which has the address of your VPN server. Note that it can also be the hostname and there may be multiple tags. You need to choose the right.
You may also need a VPN suite as well. In this case, look up the set of keywords in XML (and possibly XSD) to get the required set information.
More information about the XML file structure can be found in the article
Anyconnect XML Preferences.
This is as far as I can go without having both products on my computer. Feel free to add any additional steps I took to my answer.
