Is Cisco AnyConnect VPN Compatible with Mac OS?
The current version of the Cisco AnyConnect client available through the WebStore (4.9.04053) is officially supported and compatible with 64-bit Mac OS versions including Mac OS versions 10.13 (High Sierra), 10.14 (Mojave), 10.15 (Catalina), and 11. (Big Sur). As a 64-bit application, with the security changes updates in Mac OS 10.15, this version should be compatible with future operating systems released by Apple. Mac OS 10.12 users can use version 4.7 if version 4.8 is not working.
Mac OS versions earlier than 10.12 are not supported. AnyConnect versions required to use Mac OS 10.8 or earlier have known security issues and are no longer updated by Cisco.
In addition, when you connect to the campus using a VPN, it will be the same as if your computer was connected to a wired network or a WiFi network on the campus. The Campus Acceptable Use Policy applies to any computer connected to the campus, and requires the computer to run an operating system currently supported by the vendor. Apple usually provides security patches for the three most recent versions of its operating system. For example, when Mac OS 10.15 was released, Apple stopped patching Mac OS 10.12, and only provided security patches for Mac OS 10.13, 10.14, and 10.15, so no computer with older software should connect to a campus via VPN.
