We’ve noticed a VPN issue, which was addressed in the September Update – Patch 1[forums.frontier.co.uk], is still going on for some players. We wanted to let you know that the team has renewed its investigation into this matter and we hope to resolve it for the affected players as soon as possible. However, in the meantime, we have identified a solution that should help you get connected via VPN.
Please follow these steps:
- Locate the IP address your VPN is using:
- (Steam) Go to the folder here: C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonElite DangerousProductselite-serious-64
- You should see a file named “appconfig.xml”
- Open this with a text editor like Notepad and scroll down to the bottom, where you will see the Network section.
- Add the following line (replacing ‘xx.xxx.xxx.xx’ with your VPN’s IP address)
xxx.xx.xx - The end result should look similar to the following:
upnpenabled = “1”
log file = “netLog”
pingTime = “27”
MaxUpRate = “250,000”
DatestampLog = “1”
SendCompressedIDs = “0”

- Do not modify any of the other sections as they will already be configured for your standard use.
- Save the file in the same location.
