This guide will help in installing the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client for Windows (Vista, 7, 8.1 and 10).

Installing the Cisco Anyconnect Mobility Client

Composition

You need access to an administrator level account to install this software. When you are prompted to use Windows UAC (User Access Control), you need to allow this program to be installed.

1. Download the VPN installer from the MIT download page, Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client for Windows. Noticeable:MIT certifications are required.
2. Find and double-click the downloaded file named “anyconnect-win-4.5.XXXXXX.exe”, where XXXXXX is the installer’s sub-version number.
3. On the next screen titled “Welcome to the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup Wizard,” click next one.
4. When the software license agreement is submitted, click I agree in the dropdown menu and click next one.

8. Turn on Cisco AnyConnect.
9. Enter the address of the MIT Cisco VPN:
   • Duo (two-factor authentication) requires users Must use: vpn.mit.edu/duo.
   • Non-Duo: vpn.mit.edu
10. click Connection.
11. When prompted, enter your MIT username and password.
12. For Duo users, in the field labeled “Second Password”, you can enter one of the following options:
    1. Pay – Duo will send an instant notification to your cell phone registered with Duo Security Mobile App installed
    2. pay 2 – Duo will send an instant notification to your second Registered device with Duo Security mobile app installed_
    3. short message – Duo will send a fileshort messageon your registered cell phone; Then enter that as the second password (you will fill in the login information twice this way, first to get the SMS code, then enter it)
    4. phone – Duo will connect to your registered cell phone
    5. phone 2 – Duo will connect to your second registered cell phone
    6. Token generated once by your device token or Duo Security mobile app (token never changes 60 seconds)
       In this example, we entered “push” in the “Second Password” field.
       Sometimes methods that take a long time, such as a connection, time out before allowing you to complete Duo authentication. SMS and one-time-use codes generated by a device token (yubikey) or Duo Security mobile app are the quickest and can help you avoid timeout issues.
