How to set up Open VPN

What is Open VPN? #
In this app, Open VPN allows you to connect to your Dropzone network. You will then be able to access the Internet through your Dropzone network.
Why is it useful? #
Setting up a VPN connection in your Dropzone will allow you to connect remotely to your Dropzone’s LAN. This is useful when running a Dell server that has an iDRAC (Dell Integrated Remote Access Controller). You can run your server from anywhere when you have set up OPEN VPN with DELL server with iDRAC configuration. You must be on the local network to access iDRAC.
Basic requirements #
- You must have a router in the drop zone that is capable of setting up a VPN server. I am currently using an ASUS router. If you check the ASUS website for the router you are considering buying, you can check to see if it supports “VPN Server OVPN: Yes” (OVPN = Open VPN). You don’t have to use an ASUS router. Just make sure it supports Open VPN Server.
- You need to configure DDNS.
- You will also need to have Open VPN Connect installed on the computer that you want to use to access the local area network remotely.
