How to setup VPN on Huawei routers with L2TP

This tutorial will show you How to setup VPN on Huawei router with L2TP protocol.
Not all ExpressVPN locations may be available for manually configured connections.
Importance: L2TP does not offer any encryption and should only be used for anonymity or for changing locations. If you reside in a country with a high level of internet censorship, ExpressVPN is recommended for a more stable VPN connection.
The steps below have been tested on Huawei B525. Other models may not be supported. If you can’t follow the steps below because your device’s interface looks completely different, contact the ExpressVPN support team for further assistance.

1. Find your ExpressVPN account credentials
Go to ExpressVPN’s setup page. If prompted, enter your ExpressVPN credentials and click sign in.
Enter the verification code that is sent to your email.
On the right, select L2TP / IPsec.
This will show you your UsernameAnd The password, and list server addresses around the world.
Keep this browser window open. You’ll need this information for setup later.

2. Configure your Huawei router
In your browser’s address bar, enter 192.168.1.1 to access the router’s admin panel.
If your router’s admin panel address has changed in the past and you can’t remember it, you can find it in your device’s settings.
Log in with your username and password. (By default, both Admin.) Click sign in.
In the top menu bar, tap Settings tab. In the sidebar, select VPN.
Enter the following details:
- Enable L2TP: Check this box.
- LNS address: Enter the server address you found earlier.
- Host name: Enter a name that will help you identify your VPN connection. For example: ExpressVPN_LA.
- Tunnel password: Enters 12345678.
- Handshake interval(s): Enters 60.
- PPP username: Enter the username you found earlier.
- PPP password: Enter the password you found earlier.
- Authentication: Choose to me.
click Progressing.
Once the connection is successful, “Success” message will appear and contact status to “Online”.
Check your IP address to ensure that the VPN connection is working.

Connect to a different VPN server location
To connect to a different VPN server location, go to Settings > VPN. next to LNS . address, enter a different server address, then tap Progressing.

Disconnect from VPN server location
To disconnect from the VPN server location, go to Settings > VPN. next to Enable L2TP, uncheck the box, then tap Progressing.
