VPN Client Installation

1. Download AnyConnect VPN Client for macOS (compatible with 10.14 Mojave, 10.15 Catalina, 11 Big Sur).
2. In the Downloads folder, double-click the file you just downloaded to open it. An icon will appear on the desktop called Anyconnect, and a separate window will open.
3. Double click AnyConnect.mpkg To run the installer, then follow the steps to complete the installation. note: We recommend that you deselect everything (web security, canopy, etc.) except for file VPN and the Diagnostic and Reporting Tool (DART). This will give you minimal installation. Other features are not supported, so there is no need to install them.
   • note: During installation, you will be asked to enable AnyConnect addon In the System Preferences -> Security & Privacy bit. If you are running Big Sur (macOS 11), you will see another new version popup Cisco AnyConnect socket filter. Choose “Allowto complete the installation.

Starting the VPN Client

1. In Applications folder, go to Cisco folder and double click File Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
   
2. Enters vpn.uci.edu In the Ready for call , then press call button.
3. A popup will appear where you will enter your UCInetID and password. By default, you will be connected to Default – UCI Contact/group profile. If you need to change this, you can select the desired connection profile from the file Collection Drop-down menu: (Note: This window may be slightly hidden behind the login window)
   • Useful Route all traffic through UCI VPN.
     • Importance: Use UCIFULL when accessing library resources.
   • Default – UCI Route your campus traffic only through UCI VPN. All other traffic passes through your regular Internet provider.
4. Back in the login window, enter your UCInetID and password, then press Yes.
5. On the next page you will see a file Duo Multifactor Login A screen where you will either receive a payment or enter a passcode.
6. A banner window will appear. click Acceptance to close that window. You are online now!

Please note that if you are unable to connect to a VPN using the above method, follow these steps instead.

1. Enters vpn.uci.edu In the Ready for call , then press call button.
2. A popup will appear where you will enter your UCInetID and password. Do not enter your credentials yet. You must first change your contact group. (Note: This window may be slightly hidden behind the login window)
   • Usefull classic Route all traffic through UCI VPN.
     • Importance: Use UCIFULL-classic when accessing library resources.
   • UCI-Classic Route your campus traffic only through UCI VPN. All other traffic passes through your regular Internet provider.
3. Back in the login window, enter your UCInetID And password. Below the password box, type the word “Pay” (without the quotes) and then select Yes. You will receive a payment from Duo and be able to log in.
4. A banner window will appear. click Acceptance to close that window. You are online now!

Unplug VPN Client

When you are done using the VPN, remember to disconnect.

1. tap on Anyconnect The client icon located in the menu bar near the upper right corner of your screen.
2. Choose Resigned.

VPN Client Troubleshooting (FAQ & DART Diagnostic Tool)

If you are having trouble connecting to a VPN, please refer to the comprehensive FAQ near the bottom of the VPN homepage. If the problem persists, we will ask you to run the DART diagnostic utility and email a ZIP file which will contain detailed logs about your system which will be useful for troubleshooting. The DART Diagnostic Tool can be found in the /Applications/Cisco folder.
