McAfee Security Features

As one of the best antivirus offerings, McAfee has a very advanced set of security features. From continuously protecting your computer from ransomware, crypto and malware, to offering additional features to speed up your web browsing and protect your documents, data and passwords. Simply put, it has everything you need to make your online experience safe and smooth.

But what exactly are these McAfee security features? Let’s break it down.

Ransomware Protection

ransom keeperMcAfee’s ransomware protection offering provides an advanced layer of real-time protection without intruding on your online experience. In fact, our favorite thing about McAfee’s Ransom Guard is how unobtrusive it is while you’re online. You’ll never know it’s there unless you search for it or if you have a security issue.

Once there is a file Convert file content, which is McAfee’s fancy way of describing trying to encrypt your files, will increase your security. It will also create protected copies of compromised files, so you can rest assured that you won’t lose any of your data.

McAfee’s Ransom Guard will continue to monitor the threat. And if it persists, the problem will be isolated and your files restored from backup.

Quick cleaning

McAfee Quick cleaning It is an easy-to-use feature that helps you clean your PC to improve security and speed. It scans your computer for cookies and temporary files, which can take up a lot of space on your computer and provide the hacker with information about you.

Once QuickClean finds tracking cookies and junk files that you can dispense with, it provides you with a report, letting you see how much space you can free up. There is an option to look at everything QuickClean has discovered. Or you can follow the simple method and continue cleaning with the click of a button.

shredding

McAfee’s Shredder Tool is one of our favorite features. Usually, getting rid of files safely is not as simple as swiping delete. This will only move it to the distance of your Recycle Bin, which can still be accessed by anyone holding your device. And even if you bypass the Recycle Bin or empty it, your deleted data will still be on the disk, which means it can be restored. But with McAfee’s Shredder feature, you can be sure your file is gone forever. It works by overwriting the file’s data multiple times before deleting it.

There are three levels of security disruption presented here:

  • Basic overwrite the file Twice before deletion
  • security overwrite the file five times before deletion
  • completion overwrite the file ten times before deletion.

To make life easier, you can shred your entire Recycle Bin or temporary internet files in one go.

Scanner

Hackers look for vulnerabilities to harm popular applications and operating systems. This is why software companies and application developers regularly roll out security patches. and McAfee Scanner It looks for these things and lets you know when any of your apps need to be updated for security reasons.

All you have to do after that is hit Install updates It will install any pending security patches.

McAfee WebAdvisor

Once you download McAfee, you should find the McAfee browser extension installed automatically. This extension is called Web McAfee, gives you easy access to McAfee’s suite of security features.

In our McAfee WebAdvisor review, we found that it protects you from malware and phishing attempts while online without hampering browser performance. Again, this is another feature that keeps you safe without intruding on your internet experience, unless there is a problem.

McAfee Acceleration

The service provides improved speeds for browsing the web and for your applications:

McAfee Web Boost

McAfee Web Boost speeds up browsing by blocking autoplay videos. This is done by overlaying a video message that reads, Paused by McAfee Web Boost. When testing it, we found that it works really well and has helped some websites load more quickly. However, while it’s a nice little feature, it’s not likely to drastically change your browser’s speed.

Also, it’s worth noting that it only works on Google Chrome, so it won’t be good if that’s not the browser of your choice.

McAfee App Boost

McAfee runs PC Boost in the background to divert resources to the apps you need. This is intended to reduce load times. McAfee lab results show that this makes loading times 6% Faster. In our testing, we didn’t notice any real difference in speed. But according to our McAfee report, it boosted the performance of our app by 8%.

McAfee Password Manager: True Key

True Key, McAfee’s password manager, is one of the best known password managers. And for good reason. It allows you to manage your passwords while also keeping them safe and secure.

Uses valid key AES-256, one of the strongest encryption algorithms out there, to make sure that no one can hack your login credentials. Only you will be able to decrypt your passwords.

The app also provides multi-factor authentication to further secure your account. You will have to verify at least two factors before you can log in. You can also add more factors if you want to increase the level of security even more.

McAfee plans and pricing

McAfee offers a range of different payment plans depending on the number of devices you want to protect. Unfortunately, there is no free desktop version, although there is a free basic version of the app for Android and iOS.

And if you’re not sure whether to sign up for McAfee or not, you can test running McAfee’s Comprehensive Protection Plan at 30 days free trial. You don’t even have to enter any card details. At the end of the 30 days, you will simply lose access to the app unless you pay to keep it.

Confusingly, the two security packages from McAfee, Total Protection and LiveSafe, look a lot alike. The McAfee website does not explain the differences between them. So it is not easy to make an informed decision about which one to choose. Fortunately, we’ve done in-depth research to discover the difference between McAfee Total Protection and McAfee LiveSafe to help you decide which one is right for you.

one device VPN, Tuning, Network Security, Customer Support, Password Manager, Hacking, Hermetic Storage $29.99
An individual Like one device, support 5 devices with identity theft protection $34.99
family Such as single device, single, as well as support 10 devices $39.99
LiveSafe Like a single device, single, and family with unlimited device support $34.99

McAfee Total Protection

McAfee Total Protection offers three different plans based on how many devices you need:

  • one device Supports one device for $29.99 for the first year
  • singly Supports up to five devices for $34.99 for the first year
  • family Supports up to 10 devices for $39.99 for the first year

Nowadays, when most of us use multiple devices, a file one device The plan does not look very useful. But if you already have security built into your phone or you just want antivirus protection for a PC, this plan might be enough for you.

However, if you are like us and want to keep your data secure across multiple devices or you want to protect the whole family from cyberthreats, you will probably need to raise money for An individual or family plan.

It is worth bearing in mind that the above prices are Introductory offers It is therefore only valid for your first year subscription. After that, your subscription will automatically renew and the price is likely to go up. However, you may be able to negotiate a better renewal offer or cancel your subscription and rejoin as a new customer to make the most of any special offers.

The Total Security plan is completely useless, as the LiveSafe plan costs the same, includes the same features, and provides protection for unlimited devices.

However, if you opt out of McAfee’s auto-renewal system, you will lose some exclusive benefits. This includes VPN and Antivirus Pledge, which means it offers a refund if you get a virus that McAfee can’t remove.

McAfee Leaf Safe

Just to make things more confusing, McAfee LiveSafe costs the same as McAfee’s Total Protection Family plan. so this $39.99 for the first year. And on the surface at least, they seem to boast an identical set of security features.

The most important difference between McAfee Total Protection and McAfee LiveSafe is the number of devices you can use on them. McAfee LiveSafe provides cross-domain protection Unlimited number of devices. So, instead of being limited to a maximum of ten with the more expensive Total Protection plan, you can use your account to download McAfee software on as many devices as you want.

  • Even if the prices exceed your budget, there is no need to worry. Just check our page for McAfee coupon and promo codes and get the best discounts.

Ease of use and installation

We tested McAfee Antivirus on Windows and it was really easy to set up. However, I first tried downloading it to my Mac and got an error telling me that McAfee free trial was not compatible with Mac. So if you’re on the hunt for a free sample of McAfee antivirus offerings, Windows is the way to go.

The software downloaded quickly and installed the app and browser extension automatically without having to click anything.

McAfee interface

Once set up, the basic functions were easy enough to find in the app and in WebAdvisor. If you want to run a quick virus scan, you will be able to do so very quickly. And the state of your computer is explained by any of the adults green tick If there are no issues or significant Red Cross If there is a threat.

But then, McAfee’s program layout can be bewildering. If you want to turn on the Web Boost feature or access the Shredder tool, you’ll likely find yourself clicking around in the dark for a while before you find what you’re looking for.

The vulnerability scanner, for example, is actually titled Update my apps and hidden away in PC Security tab. However, once you click on it, it gives you a lot of useful information.

If in doubt, most of the features are in the gear icon at the top right corner of the dashboard. Here, you will be able to access:

  • Firewall

  • Scheduled scans

  • Anti-spam

  • Real-time scanning

  • Automatic updates

  • isolated items

  • General Settings and Alerts

  • Quick cleaning

  • Boost app

  • web…
