NortonVPN: Today to Day
So once you took it out of the box, NortonVPN was automatically connected. For all intents and purposes, you can minimize the window and never think about it again. In fact, this is what I did for a few days just to see if I noticed anything wonky in the daily use of the service. I’m happy to report that I didn’t, but I’m not happy to report all I can report.

When I say Norton offers a simple VPN, I mean it. This is one of the most inventory services I have encountered.
NortonVPN’s dashboard itself is really simple. In the main window, you will see if and where you are connected, and what IP address you show. You see, for the rest of the internet, I’m in Canada, right?
On the next page, you will see your options for choosing a default location. There isn’t much to choose from, and none of these servers are optimized for activities like streaming or torrenting. I will say, though, that I’ve never had a problem connecting to any of them. Some of the more complex services you’ve used in the past will have you fiddling with protocols and settings to make everything work. Norton only works out of the gate.

Site selection
Finally, you have the ad tracking statistics. NortonVPN includes a built-in ad blocker that works surprisingly well. I still noticed a couple of ads here and there while doing my daily browsing, but they were noticeably less. Also worth noting – I didn’t get the “Hey, we noticed you’re using an ad blocker, please turn it off” message that you sometimes get when running an ad blocking browser extension. Kudos to NortonVPN, here.

That’s all there is to say about your daily use. There is no tampering with the protocol or a kill switch to turn it off or on; Honestly, there’s not even a head covering to check out. Seriously, the Settings tab only gives you the option to toggle the service on or off on startup and automatically connect when you access the Internet.

indeed. “Limited” is one way of describing NortonVPN. Now, is this a bad thing? Well, I’ll leave it up to you to decide, but before we get there, let’s make sure we think of all the information. How fast is NortonVPN and how secure is it?
