Installing and configuring a VPN server with Windows Server 2016 is an easy way. By following the instructions in this article, a VPN server can be implemented in just a few minutes.

A VPN provides secure access to organizations’ internal data and applications to clients and devices that use the Internet.

To properly implement and support a VPN environment within your organization, you must understand how to select an appropriate tunneling protocol, configure VPN authentication, and configure the server role to support your chosen configuration.

For the purposes of this demonstration, I will be using 2 VMAnd and 1 Windows 10 VM client that all work in Hyper-V.

Let’s start configuring the VPN.

01 – Checks the network configuration of the VPN server. (please point to the pictures)

1 – VPN server requires 2 NIC:

  • Ethernet 1: LAN
  • Ethernet 2: Internet

2 – Windows 10 client.

02 – Create VPNUsers OU & ​​User in Active Directory.

1 – Create a new OU – In the New Object – Organizational Unit dialog, in the Name box, type VPN users, then click OK.

2 – In the Active Directory Users and Computers console, expand Windows.aeRight click VPNUsers OU, Click New, then click user.

3 – Right click User, propertiesAnd Enable Allow Access For remote access to connect to your VPN server. Well. (Please tag the pictures)

03 – installation

1 – Open a file server manager and click Add roles and features.

2 – Click Next.

3 – Select now Role- or feature-based installation option and click on Next.

4 – Now select the desired server on which you wish to install Routing and Remote Access.

5 – Select from the lists of roles remote access and click next one.

6 – Click next oneNo additional features are required at this point.

7 – Just click on next one.

8 – On the next tab you need to select Direct Access and VPN (RAS), click Add features in the popup window.

9 – On the confirmation page, click Installations to begin with.

10 – After the installation process is finished, press Open the Getting Started Wizard.

11 – On this tab, press Post VPN only.

04 – Composition

1 – Right click on your server and select Configure and enable Routing and Remote Access.

2 – Press next one.

3 – In the new wizard select Remote access (dial-up or VPN).

4 – Select on the next page VPN.

5 – Here select that network adapter Your server connects to the Internet.

6 – Here select that network adapter Connects your server to VPN clients.

7 – Here you can choose how to distribute IP addresses – via DHCP or manually. Select the second method.

8 – In this tab, press new.

9 – In the pop-up window, select the range of IP addresses, press OK, go back to the previous tab and tap next one.

10 – In this tab you can choose the authentication method. Choose Routing and remote access.

11 – Press finish. And Click OKNow the configuration is completed.

12 – Next, in the Routing and Remote Access console, expand DC-CLOUD, Right-click Ports, then click Properties.

13 – Check it out 128 ports exist for SSTP, IKEv2, PPTP, And L2TP, Then double click WAN Miniport (SSTP). maximum outlets box, write 5, then tap OKIn the Routing and Remote Access message box, click Yes. Yes.

14 – Repeat the same step No.: 13 for IKEv2, PPTP, And L2TP, then press OK.

05 – Client connection test

1 – On the Windows 10 client computer, open Network and Sharing Center, Then click S.et up a new connection or network.

2 – Next, in the connection option selection interface, click contact the workplace, Then click Next.

3 – How do you want to communicate? Interface, click to use My internet connection (VPN).

4 – In the workplace connection interface, click I will set up an internet connection later.

5 – In the Internet address box, type 131.107.0.10 (IP address of DC-CLOUD VPN server).

In the Destination name box, type the NewHelpTech VPN connection, select the Allow other people to use this connection check box, and then click Create. –

6 – Next, right click NewHelpTech VPN connection, Then click Connect.

7 – in login dialog, Type the domain user from VPNUsers OU Name Sifad box, type the password, and then click OK.

8 – Verify that you are connected to windows using a PPTP connectionRight click NewHelpTech VPN connection, Then click Status.
