My company is ramping up working from home due to social distancing.
Can people advise what VPN is blocked by ISP by default due to parental controls etc?
I found Virgin block VPN because of Web Safe. any other person?
When you say VPN, are you sure you don’t mean Remote Desktop/Teamviewer, some ISPs block these (can be removed on demand) The reason for the blocking is that scammers make people install them and use them to control computers to carry out scam

I’m on BT with their protection turned on and I can be sure Cisco VPN is working fine.
I used to be a Plusnet customer and even though their protection doesn’t block the VPN, they have an IP range that is registered in the US and can cause VPN issues if you’re lucky enough to get an IP from that range.

You must have asked about allowing VPNs as well so you end up with a VPN list and a No-VPN list.
BT uses VPNs for most home workers, so no problems.
So SKY and TalkTalk, BT allow the use of a home VPN service. I have not heard from my company of any company that does not allow the “company” vpn to allow work from home.
So. Just use it.

You find some ARIN blocks with UK addresses when the service is based in that RIR region. You can also find the opposite which is what they do with some old Infonet/BTA blocks.
There are an increasing number of ARIN-assigned blocks moving into RIPE’s service area (and others), although you have to wonder if it’s because of the fixed fees RIPE now has instead of paying ARIN $4,000 a year for /16.
Now that v4 is exhausted, the RIRs don’t seem to care much about the ample supply of v6.

I need to know which ISP with parental control shields VPN block.
So end users can’t “just use it” because it won’t connect because these shields are enabled by default.

I know that EE and BT allow VPN use even with parental shields turned on. I’ve been to both lately.
The other big ISP that our employees use are Sky and TT.

I wonder why Plusnet never bothers, eg with this: https://search.arin.net/rdap/?query=150.143.0.0 (although they update the abuse contact, for whatever it’s worth)
There was so much contention on the day that their ARIN geolocation-based addresses were sorted into the UK, you’d think they did during that.

ARIN blocks are slightly different from RIPE. The latter you can set the “country” against which a lot of databases are updated fairly quickly. This is cluster specific and can be assigned to a single IP address. Same for APNIC, they use backend RIPEs so the format is the same.
ARIN blocks contain only POCs and ORGs, so some of them were speculative work which is why they caused the most problems which will generally be allocated to all blocks in this entity.

Interestingly, I noticed that the ARIN results format doesn’t have a static country field, which definitely muddies the waters a bit when trying to associate an IP address with a country.

Strange question – primarily the question that is given by my employer.
You might think of a VPN from the concept of “hide my IP” sold by Nord, Express, and others. This is not for work at home.

I just built a pfSense Firewall/router and we have two EE ‘Singnal Box’ for our mobile signal and had to open some port on pfSense to allow the EE box VPN to connect.

It’s amazing that you still get it, as others have stopped providing Wifi calling now. However, those femto cells are often hard to reach through firewalls, because they create their own IPsec VPN, which is not NAT friendly, and the carrier doesn’t want to tell you how it works…we finished with a Vodafone equivalent problem, gave up and ended up with To put it on the ADSL BT line in the office.
